Timashov is born in Ukraine, but grown up in Sweden. The 28-year-old has a Ukrainian mother and Russian father. In his youth years, he represented among others Sollentuna, Djurgården and Modo.

Timashov has represented Swedish youth teams, and made five matches for Tre Kronor.

After Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he is one of the few Swedish hockey players who have played in the Russian top league KHL.

The season 2024–2025, Timashov went to HK Sochi. He however ended the season in Swiss Genéve-Servette.

Now Timashov returns to Russia. He has written a two-year contract with Admiral Vladivostok.

Timashov wants to play in the controversial country to get closer to his family who lives there.

Then it felt good when I talked to the club's general manager and coach. It will be fun to play in KHL again and, as said, get to be close to my Russian family who I barely got to meet since I moved to Sweden and when I was in the USA, says Timashov to Hockeysverige.
