It is also a signal to the industry to tighten up, to be fair, straightforward and honest in its communication, says Minister for Civil Service Erik Slottner (KD) at a press conference.
The authority, in collaboration with the Swedish Consumer Agency, will submit a first report in June next year and a final report in February 2028.
In its work, the authorities will collect information and impressions from the public about goods that are sold under false pretences. This could include claims that they contain a certain ingredient, that the picture on the packaging or the list of ingredients does not tell the whole truth, but also how stores label a product.
Previously, old-fashioned vanilla ice cream sold in bulk and whipping soy have been singled out.
The ice cream contained very little trace of vanilla, says Slottner.
