The Aliens Act is being tightened as a result of the EU's new Asylum and Migration Pact being introduced into Swedish law. The change means, among other things, that legal assistance in asylum cases will be replaced with two to three hours of legal advice.
Lawyer Karin Gyllenring, in the Swedish Bar Association's working group on migration law issues, tells Ekot that this could lead to more incorrect deportation decisions.
The Bar Association is now demanding that the government withdraw the rules on discontinued representation, which are an adaptation to the EU minimum level, and is urging its members to refuse the new assignments.
