Left Party vice-chair Ida Gabrielsson writes on X that the four opposition parties have been holding talks for two weeks and that she felt those talks were progressing.
“It has been quite clear that S can govern with us in our four-party talks,” Gabrielsson writes, while insisting that the party's demands for government participation are based on a party congress decision that cannot be overturned:
“C and S are well aware of the party congress decision that V has made, and that it is precisely that decision that cannot be changed.”
Impossible arrangement
She writes that C leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist is demanding an arrangement “that she knows is impossible for us and Magdalena Andersson to implement” with V outside the government and “more right-wing politics than Kristersson”.
“I must therefore assume that Thand Ringqvist wants to switch sides and that she and C want to govern on an SD mandate. Therefore, she is demanding an impossible arrangement,” Gabrielsson writes.
C - which has a red line against V holding a position in government - wants to wait before responding to the S proposal. Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist first wants to see the “total packages” from the Social Democrats and the Moderates for how they want to govern Sweden. She had previously asked to see them by Friday at the latest.
“Want to see the whole”
“We want to see the whole and are therefore waiting to comment on individual parts until we have seen both total packages,” Thand Ringqvist writes on X.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, S leader Magdalena Andersson said she wants to form a government with the Center Party and the Green Party, with the Left Party as a support party - without ministerial posts, but in “close cooperation”.
She believes this is the constellation “most likely to be able to take office”.
