"We do not want the same structure as at present when it comes to the Prime Minister's Office in foreign and security policy," says Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson at a meeting with parliamentary journalists.
The Social Democrats instead want to establish a political state secretary in the cabinet who is responsible for these issues and is also a national security advisor.
Foreign policy is extremely high on the political agenda, says Andersson, mentioning the Middle East, Ukraine and the US administration.
It is better to have a political person who can speak on behalf of the government, according to the S leader. The requirement is that the person is a Social Democrat.
It's better to have a person in my immediate vicinity, says Andersson.
What this means for the office that has been established under the national security advisor is unclear; Andersson says she has not set foot there yet.
We will be able to present this closer to the election or after the election, she says.
