The Government and The Swedish Democrats appoint an inquiry that will review the right to use violence to defend oneself or someone else against a criminal attack.

On Aftonbladet's debate page the Tidö parties write that the rules on self-defence have not been changed in over 30 years. Since then, crime and society's view on criminality have changed.

There is today sufficient space to defend oneself if one as an innocent person is attacked, they write further. But the right to self-defence must not lead to that settlements or spirals of violence between and within criminal networks become unpunished. To ensure a reasonable balance between these interests, the law should be reviewed, according to the government.

The government will also investigate whether the entry bans can become more effective, for example by a store owner themselves being able to make decisions about who may be in the store or not.

The residence bans, which prohibit persons in criminal circles from staying in a certain place, will also be reviewed. It is about investigating how long a residence ban should apply and whether authorities should be able to make decisions that apply immediately.
