The gold match seemed to be hot beforehand, as Canada had been playing steadily throughout the tournament – but Sweden had scored more goals. However, on the ice, it was a complete collapse for the blue and yellow team.

It wasn't fun today, says Sweden's point king Filip Ekberg to Aftonbladet.

Canada dominated the match from the start and scored two goals early in the first period. Despite Sweden having a lot of offensive opportunities and puck possession, there were no goals. All shots went past or were saved by Canada's goalkeeper Jack Ivankovic.

If we had scored the first goal, as in the semifinal, it would have given the team energy, but we didn't succeed with that. Canada was better at everything. We are disappointed, but I am also very proud of our guys, says Sweden's national team captain Thomas Paananen to the newspaper.

Canada, which also took the gold medal last year, won 7–0. The junior team's silver means they have now taken a medal in the championship for seven years in a row.
