The 18-year-old Rögle forward, who made his SHL debut during the season, scored both the 3–2 and 4–2 goals, the latter into an empty net, when Sweden decided the game in the third period in Trencin, Slovakia.
Sweden had a shaky group stage and lost two of four matches, including 1–9 against the USA. The absence of Djurgården star Viggo Björck, who was not allowed to play because he wanted to complete the U20 final series at home, seemed significant at the time.
But in the quarterfinals, Sweden rose to the occasion.
Canada won the shootout 35–26, and goalkeeper Kevin Törnblom of Örebro was another match hero.
The semi-final will be played on Friday, and Sweden's opponent is still unclear.
