Summertime begins at 2:00 and ends on the last Sunday in October.
Summertime has long been controversial in Sweden. As early as 1916, an attempt was made, but the protests were so large, mainly from rural areas, that the attempt was scrapped. In 1980, summertime was reintroduced, from the end of March to the end of September, and with the entry into the EU in 1995, we adapted our summertime to the rest of Europe.
And what is the reason for moving the clock to summertime?
Historically, it has mainly been about utilizing the daylight hours and to save energy. Critics of summertime argue that the desired social effects are lacking and that the shifted daily rhythm instead causes problems such as sleep deprivation.
