An inquiry should therefore propose how the influence of foreign actors can be regulated.
"Swedish schools must never become a back door for foreign interests or espionage," Minister for Education and Integration Simona Mohamsson (L) says in a press release.
The Swedish Schools Inspectorate has pointed out that it is difficult to obtain a comprehensive picture of foreign ownership in the independent school sector. The Swedish National Defence Research Institute has assessed that there is a risk of a foreign actor acquiring ownership influence with the aim of influencing Swedish society.
The assignment must be reported no later than September 30, 2027.
