The statement comes on the same day as SD publishes its white paper where it is stated that SD's description – that the party became less radicalized after Jimmie Åkesson joined it in the mid-1990s – is not true. Ideologically, the radicalization continued during the latter part of the decade. The view of Swedishness within the party became more ethnically based and adopted children were not considered to be able to become Swedish.

Jimmie Åkesson responds to the minister on X:
