Last year, Ukraine was subjected to more than 4,315 cyberattacks, on average twelve per day, according to the government. The attacks come primarily from Russia and are directed, among other things, against authorities and basic community services.
The new support aims to make Ukraine more resilient to future attacks.
"Ukraine has shown significant resilience while Russia time and time again does everything to weaken the country. It is crucial that Ukraine can continue to offer its citizens basic community services, access to information and digital services, for example in schools and within healthcare", says Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party) in a press release.
The support is handled by Sida within the framework of a cooperation with several other European countries as well as the USA and is part of the funds that the aid agency receives annually.
