On Thursday, the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) and the Danish Football Association (DBU) submitted their final European Championship application to the European Football Association (Uefa).
The vision is a European Championship 2029 that is organized in a sustainable and inclusive way and with over one million spectators in the stands. The current audience record for a European Championship for women was set during the summer's European Championship in Switzerland, when 657,291 people watched the matches on site.
Eight arenas, four in Sweden and four in Denmark, are included in the joint application.
In Sweden, the idea is that the matches will be played at 3 arenas in Stockholm, Strawberry arena in Solna, Ullevi in Gothenburg and Eleda stadium in Malmö. The European Championship final is intended to be played at Strawberry arena.
"Now we want to show all of Europe that Sweden and Denmark can deliver a European Championship that sets a new standard - both on and off the pitch. Together with Denmark and in collaboration with our host cities, we see opportunities to arrange the most visited championship ever, which would inspire future football players", says SvFF's chairman Simon Åström in a statement.
The planned host cities in Denmark are Brøndby, Copenhagen, Odense and Århus.
In December, Uefa is expected to make a decision on who will get the European Championship 2029.
