Svensson went the second round in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at five strokes under par and is at –6 total on a shared fifth place. It is three strokes behind the Frenchman Antoine Rozner, who is in sole lead.
The top ten players on the European Tour ranking – PGA tour players excluded – after the tour final in Dubai will get playing rights on the USA tour next season.
Prior to the tour final, Jesper Svensson was sixth on that list and Sebastian Söderberg was ninth. Söderberg will, however, have to fight during the weekend for a future USA adventure to become a reality.
He had a tough first round with five strokes over par and on Friday, Söderberg had to settle for a par round (72 strokes), which means that the 34-year-old is at a shared 46th place out of 50 starters. Everyone in the starting field will play all four rounds.
Superstar Rory McIlroy – normally on the PGA tour – is storming towards his sixth total victory on the European Tour. The Northern Irishman already led the "Race to Dubai" ranking prior to the tour final, but he is halfway into the competition only one stroke behind leading Rozner.
