This year's Stockholm Marathon is the 46th in order with a starting field that is younger than in a long time, with an average age of 37.4 years.
Hanna Lindholm, with 16 national championship medals on her merit list, thinks that one "shouldn't make a fuss" in the build-up to the race over approximately 42.2 kilometers.
Especially when it comes to food, you eat as usual but with a little extra carbohydrates. That's the best. In the morning, a plate of porridge and some fruit, says the 45-year-old.
The weather forecast for Saturday shows almost perfect running weather, around 18 degrees. Still, it's important to get enough fluids.
One bottle of water with electrolyte replacement or sports drink the day before, without pouring it in, because then it will only be difficult at night, says Lindholm.
"Päronfestis as sports drink"
Along the course, there will be 17 fluid stations with varying energy supplements. Something that is good to utilize according to Wilma Modig, the 25-year-old who made her marathon debut last year after a past in triathlon, among other things.
Modig herself will not use the fluid stations in the same way as the others.
I have huge problems with my stomach, therefore I have used päronfestis as sports drink. I have been drinking it since I was little and my stomach is used to it.
So I will leave in bottles at the different stations, but then my mom and dad will also be there as a reserve. If it happens that I miss it.
The anxiety level is probably high, where sleep can become affected.
Night before, almost no one sleeps well, so you shouldn't get stressed out but just accept the situation. I usually think that it's better that I lie still and rest, rather than being stressed about not sleeping, says Modig.
"It will go as it goes"
A lot of those standing at the starting line will also have new shoes, where you have to watch out for blisters.
Then I think that many can also get problems with blisters on the body, then you can, for example, have Vaseline under your arms and between your legs, says Hanna Lindholm.
During the race, Wilma Modig says that one should try to find a good balance between focus and relaxation.
Then it will go as it goes, I think. You can't influence how the others do, but only influence your own performance.
