This weekend, the police's new terms regarding interrupted football matches due to "organized masking" will come into effect.
Now, three Stockholm clubs are protesting in an open letter.
The clubs believe that the order situation in the stands has steadily improved in recent years and that the new requirements risk having the opposite effect.
"AIK, Djurgården and Hammarby are deeply concerned about the development and see the proposal as directly counterproductive", the clubs write and "appeal to the police authority not to introduce this requirement in upcoming permits".
Malmö FF is also protesting against the police's directive. "We see a significant risk that Malmö FF and Swedish football will face serious consequences if the terms remain", writes the reigning champion club on its website.
According to the police's new directive, which is to apply from and including this weekend's 24th Allsvenskan round, one can read, among other things: "If order and safety at the event are disturbed by unauthorized masking in organized form carried out by visitors to the event, the organizer shall interrupt the event until the unauthorized organized masking has ceased".
According to the police, the upcoming requirements will contribute to reduced use of pyrotechnics.
