Two men in their 30s and a woman in her 60s have been arrested after the attack north of Manchester, where two people were killed. Four more people were injured and are being treated in hospital after the attack, which the police classify as a terrorist act.
The alleged perpetrator, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian origin, was killed by police at the scene.
The attack has been condemned by people from across the political spectrum in the UK and from several parts of the world.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer addressed the country's Jewish population in a speech.

He also warned that anti-Semitism is increasing in the country and that it must be combated "once and for all".

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Israel mourns with the victims, but also issues a warning to the rest of Europe.
"Those who show weakness when the face of terror appears will only be struck by more terror. Only strength and unity can defeat it”, he says in a statement.
