Report to the office at least four days a week, otherwise you may be offered compensation to resign. This is the coffee chain Starbucks' new requirement for its employees, writes Financial Times.
Most of Starbucks' 350,000 employees work at the company's cafes and the new requirement thus applies to those with office jobs who previously could work remotely. These amount to around 20,000 employees. A certain category of these employees must also be prepared to move to Seattle, where the company has its headquarters, or Toronto in Canada within 12 months.
Starbucks is no longer alone in limiting the opportunities to work remotely. Amazon, which also has its headquarters in Seattle, has decided that the company's employees should be in the office five days a week.
