National cultural organizations have lost around 34 percent of their resources over the past ten years, according to a new report from the Nonprofit Cultural Alliance, which has examined government support during the period.

If grants had kept pace with inflation, the organizations would have had around SEK 35 million more in cash today, according to the report.

The national organizations coordinate associations, offer training, and support cultural activities throughout the country. The economic downturn has already forced many organizations to reduce staff, cut back on training and limit member support.

Smaller towns, sparsely populated areas, and suburbs risk being hit hardest.
