The countdown clock started and stopped repeatedly for the planned test launch of the third-generation Starship on Friday night, local time in Sweden, due to problems shortly before liftoff. After several attempts at last-minute measures, the launch was finally canceled.
The planned test mission takes place during a period when much is at stake for the space company, which is moving toward an IPO in the near future.
According to CEO Elon Musk, a locking bolt on one of the tower arms failed to retract properly. A new launch attempt could be made as early as Friday, US time, if the problem can be resolved.
