Israel's military claims to have hit Hezbollah terrorists, dozens of launch pads, and terrorist infrastructure around Lebanon. The country's air defense is also said to have hit a Hezbollah launch pad in the Berghoz area in southern Lebanon shortly after Hezbollah attacked an Israeli position.
"Israel demands that the relevant parties in Lebanon fulfill their responsibility and prevent Hezbollah's hostile activities," Israel's military says in a statement.
The Lebanese state news agency NNA has reported on several Israeli airstrikes against villages about two miles from the border. According to the country's health department, at least nine people have been killed in attacks on two villages in southern Lebanon. Additional people are said to have been injured.
"Violation of the ceasefire"
Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah announced that the group had attacked an Israeli position in Kfar Shouba, located in a disputed area on the border between Lebanon and Israel.
Israel's military claims that Hezbollah has fired two projectiles at the disputed area of Har Dov (Shebaa Farms).
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described it in a post on X as a "serious violation" of the ceasefire.
The ceasefire came into effect in Lebanon last Wednesday, after more than a year of escalation and war between Israel and the Islamist movement Hezbollah. The fighting has subsided, but Israel has carried out several attacks on targets under allegations that Hezbollah is breaking the agreement.
Israel denies
There have been allegations that Israel has broken the ceasefire – something that Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar denied earlier on Monday.
"We hear claims that Israel is violating the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon. On the contrary! Israel is upholding it in response to Hezbollah's violations, which require immediate action," he said in a statement.
The ceasefire agreement is based on Lebanon's regular and relatively weak military being stationed in a buffer zone in southern Lebanon, together with international soldiers in the UN mission Unifil. This, as well as an Israeli withdrawal to Israel, is to take place within 60 days. Hezbollah is also moving all its heavy weapons north of the Litani River.
