We have a situation where the public sector does not have control over HVB homes, says Lena Hallengren, group leader for The Social Democrats in the Riksdag.
The Social Democrats are urging the government to establish a concrete action plan and are ready to cooperate on an additional amendment budget, if more resources are needed.
The plan should include measures that make it easier to detect and immediately shut down HVB homes operated by gang criminals. The Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) must conduct deeper register checks when a home changes owners or management, according to The Social Democrats.
The Social Democrats also want sanctions to be introduced if changes in ownership are not reported.
It is completely unreasonable that it is so difficult to scrutinize this industry, when we know that there are problems in it, says Fredrik Lundh Sammeli, vice chairman of the Social Committee.
Another demand from The Social Democrats is that the principle of public access to information should apply to HVB homes and that unscrupulous actors should be "branded" nationwide.
