Of that amount, 600 million will go to the regions to purchase and stockpile important medicines that may be difficult to obtain in crisis and war.
The stockpiles of medicines are currently very small. One relies on being able to purchase medicines when needed, says the party's group leader in the Riksdag, Lena Hallengren.
Region Gotland and Norrbotten are proposed to receive 500 million kronor to develop emergency hospitals. This involves adapting existing emergency hospitals so that they can quickly increase the number of care places in crisis.
The Social Democrats also propose that 100 million kronor be used to purchase emergency supplies for agriculture, in order to strengthen food security.
The proposals are included in the party's economic spring motion, which will be presented in its entirety next week.
The government presented increased allocations for civil defense for the coming years last autumn.
