The election of the speaker will take place in the morning in the Riksdag and S has previously made it clear that it wants a change in the speaker's position and that Norlén cannot remain in office.
Yesterday, however, the Left Party announced that it will support the Moderate Party's proposal for speaker, Andreas Norlén.
"It's a political game that I think is incomprehensible to most people. It is of course also a betrayal of all the voters who voted for change," says S group leader Lena Hallengren.
C will vote for
If V does not change its mind, S's candidate could at best become First Deputy Speaker, since the other Tidö parties are also behind the nomination of Norlén.
V's announcement prompted S leader Magdalena Andersson to announce on Monday that she was giving up attempts to form a government and returning the exploratory mission to the speaker.
Center Party group leader Daniel Bäckström says that C has decided to support S's candidate.
"As the largest party in the Riksdag, we see it as a reasonable and natural choice. We have also had good dialogues with, among others, the Social Democrats and see that a Social Democratic speaker could make the work of the Riksdag work very well," he writes in a comment.

What awaits us seems to be a government formation that will take time. Someone with experience of a similar situation is needed. Andreas Norlén has previously handled difficult situations where tough knots need to be untied, he says.
He has managed to get our prime ministerial candidate Magdalena Andersson elected before, and our assessment is that he should be able to do it again.
Norlén was elected Speaker in 2018 and has served for eight years so far.
