SMHI has issued an orange warning for the southern Norrland coastline from 11 a.m. on New Year's Day until 6 a.m. on January 2nd.
There could be up to three decimeters of snow. With so much snow coming, it will be very disruptive and it will not be possible to keep the roads in good condition. So you shouldn't go out and drive unless you really have to, Viktor Bergman says.
For Svealand and southernmost Norrland there is a yellow warning for snowfall on New Year's Day, which has now been extended south and west, and now covers large parts of Svealand. It is valid from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Snowfall amounts of between 7 and 15 centimeters are expected there, Bergman says.
In addition, it will be windy.
Around Uppsala and Stockholm, it is so windy that the warning will probably change to snowfall combined with wind.
However, the start of New Year's Eve looks set to be clear in most places, with freezing temperatures across most of the country.
But then it gets cloudy towards the evening, and around midnight it starts to snow in parts of southern Norrland and Dalarna.
The cold and snow will persist even after New Year's Day.
This low pressure will remain throughout the weekend over large parts of the country, so there may be warnings even further ahead.
