The plane crash occurred just after 7 am local time on Friday morning. The plane crashed into a bus and several cars on a major avenue just northwest of the city center of the million-city. The bus caught fire.

In addition to the fatalities, at least four people have been taken to hospital. One of them was a woman who was on the sidewalk next to the road and another was a motorcyclist who was hit by a plane part.

It (the plane) crashed into a tree, then into a sign and started leaking fuel, says witness João to the news site G1.

When it crashed into the ground, it exploded, and we ran.

Surveillance footage from the accident site shows how the plane crashed right next to a major intersection where a line of cars was waiting to drive on.

A black smoke column rose from the fire on the ground. A large rescue operation was launched at the remains of the plane and the burning bus.

The plane was a smaller model with room for eight people, but only two are believed to have been on board. They are the two who are counted as deceased. It is not clear from the initial reports why it crashed, but it had just taken off from a nearby airfield when it began to lose altitude.
