Slovakia's government has approved a plan for the construction of a new nuclear power plant. A procurement is planned for June next year.
The cost of the nuclear power plant, with an effect of approximately 1,200 megawatt, is estimated to be 10 billion euro (nearly 120 billion kronor), according to the plan.
The plan is to have signed an agreement with a supplier by 2027 and to start the construction in 2032, with the aim of putting the nuclear power plant into operation in 2040.
Talks about the project have been held, among others, with French EDF and American Westinghouse, but also with South Korean suppliers of nuclear technology, according to Slovakia's Minister of Industry Denisa Sakova.
