During the initial nine months, construction of 21,550 apartments has begun, an increase of 5 percent compared to the same period last year. However, this is an increase from historically very low levels.
Of the initiated apartments, 17,500 are in multi-dwelling buildings, an increase of 12 percent, according to new figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB). Preliminary, approximately 73 percent of these were let as rental apartments.
However, when it comes to single-family homes, there is a marked decline. Approximately 4,050 apartments were initiated, a decrease of 18 percent.
