Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has spoken to the leaders of the other parliamentary parties and informed them about the risk that this fall's election could be targeted by influence campaigns. "Sweden is not immune," he writes on X.

Kristersson (M) also writes that, for example, Säpo, the Election Authority and the Psychological Defense Agency are on alert. He writes that the possibility of support from the authorities was raised during Friday's conversation.

He mentions Russia, and points out that attempts were made to influence democratic elections in several European countries last year, but that "it is hopeful that forces that believe in Europe and in supporting Ukraine" emerged victorious in the elections.

Although Sweden is not immune, Kristersson continues:

"Finally, I would like to emphasize once again that Sweden is strongly prepared for the 2026 elections."

S leader Magdalena Andersson also points to Russia, but she also warns of threats from other sources.

"We have a new American administration that we do not yet know how it intends to work."

Andersson also believes it is important to pay attention to "threats from within", such as Koran burnings.
