It was in August last year that a ten-year-old boy drowned in one of the pools at the water park. Exactly how the accident could happen is not clarified, according to Christoffer Östling, and the police investigation was closed, but the boy was found in a pool where only those who can swim are allowed and children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult who can swim.
The Consumer Agency investigated the matter under the product safety law and despite the fact that the park took some measures at the same time, the authority established earlier this month that deficiencies still remained.
Christoffer Östling states that the park has now addressed these issues.
Among other things, the park has reduced the maximum number of people in the pool where the accident occurred, changed the procedures for the lifeguards, and put up signs with the rules that apply.
But the park does not accept all criticism. Color-marking changes in water depth has not been done, as the park believes that it makes it more difficult for lifeguards to see if someone has ended up on the bottom of the pool.
The park opened for the season on Tuesday. The Consumer Agency will assess whether the measures are sufficient.
