The government withdrew the proposal to lower the age of criminal responsibility to 13 years for serious crimes because it risked being defeated in parliament.
The reason was that the government did not have support for its reform on its own side. Several members of the Liberal Party were singled out.
I am aware that this issue has been raised not only in my parliamentary group but also in the Moderates and the Christian Democrats, says Simona Mohamsson, who is also Minister of Education and Integration.
She points out that it has not been an easy issue for the Tidö parties to handle.
