It was shortly after 04:00 on Tuesday that the police received an alarm that several shots had been fired at a door in Vasastan in Stockholm. At the address, among other things, is the office of the record company giant Warner Music Sweden.
In the morning, all employees of the record company were urged to stay away from the office, according to a source with insight for TT.
Threat since before
The police confirm that the shooting has occurred at the location, but do not want to comment on who was the target.
Threats are never something we talk about, says police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.
During the morning, the police have devoted themselves to door-to-door visits and witness interviews. It is assumed that there is also material from several surveillance cameras in the area.
Even if the police cannot confirm any connection, there is a threat against Swedish Warner since before. During the summer, the office has been closed periodically due to threats and employees have been afraid, according to TT's source.
In February this year, a powerful explosive charge detonated outside a residence in southern Stockholm that is linked to a high-ranking executive within Warner.
A then 15-year-old boy from Gothenburg was arrested shortly afterwards and in the summer he was convicted of carrying out the explosion. He has stated that the act was committed on behalf of someone else.
”Congratulations on the successes”
A few weeks before the explosion, the Warner executive received threatening messages demanding 2.5 million kronor from him - otherwise they would lay his home in ruins, as appears in the police investigation after the explosion.
The origin of the extortion attempt was that Warner had released music with Gothenburg rapper C Gambino, who was shot to death in June 2024 in a murder that the police linked to a conflict between criminal gangs in the Biskopsgården district.
”Congratulations on the successes, the same successes that now cost you 250,000 Euro. C. Gambino and his northern network are our enemies. You have helped him with contracts, advances and financial successes, this he has financed his friends with against us”, wrote the extortionist.
TT has contacted Warner Music, which has not responded.
