The incident was initially described as ongoing life-threatening violence and people were urged to stay away. According to Norwegian police, two people got into a fight, whereupon one of them fired several shots with a pistol.

The two are said to have left the shopping center and a search effort is underway. According to the police, they have some form of relationship with each other.

It seems that there has been a settlement inside the center between two groups, said incident leader Arve Røtterud earlier to VG.

One person has been shot and injured in connection with the incident and has been taken to hospital. The extent of the injuries is still unclear.

Aside from the person who was shot, another person was slightly injured in the panic that ensued, says Strand at the press conference.

The police say that they are now going through video material from the shopping center and continue to interview witnesses.

A witness on the scene told VG about the incident earlier.

I heard them arguing, then six shots were fired at a table where several people were sitting. I hid behind some shelves, the witness said to the newspaper.
