The number is more than five times the average daily level recorded in the first ten days of June, AXS Marine wrote on X.
The figure recorded on Thursday is also the highest since mid-April, when the Strait of Hormuz was temporarily opened. Before the war, traffic through the strait was around 110 crossings per day.
Since the reopening, the US and Iran have given different versions of how the strait should be managed: the US claims that the waterway should be toll-free, while Iran has said it will charge a “service fee.” On Friday, Iran said that the fees would be suspended during the 60-day negotiation period.
However, Iranian authorities require that all ships wishing to pass through the strait register at least 48 hours in advance, Reuters reported.
Corrected: A previous version incorrectly stated which day of the week 25 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
