"That a spectator succeeds in getting onto the pitch and confronting a player is a serious incident that also constitutes grounds for several penalties. The organizer's primary task is to guarantee the security of players, leaders, officials, and the public", says the Swedish Football Association's security chief Martin Fredman in a statement on the association's website.

"We are aware that it is a difficult assignment to ensure comprehensive pitch protection, but it is an important issue that must always be prioritized in the organizers' planning."

At the same time, the association writes that its competition department was not "involved in the discussions" when the decision was made to resume the game.

The association clarifies what alternatives the match meeting had to consider after the assault on Öster player Sebastian Starke Hedlund.

+ To play out the match the same evening.

+ To resume the match the day after.

+ Or to hand over the matter to the association for a decision. The association's competition department was not involved during Thursday's match meeting.

The Football Association's legal department is now awaiting the match delegate's report, which will be processed according to existing routines.
