"Everyone must be able to quickly make the same decision on the same grounds to save lives," says Jan Andersson, investigator at the National Board of Health and Welfare, in a press release.
Quickly categorizing the wounded according to the severity of their injuries will ensure that healthcare resources are used with maximum benefit.
So far, this has been handled differently across regions, which risks resulting in varying assessments, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare.
The new model has been developed in collaboration between regions, other authorities and experts.
The system is to be used by healthcare services, but can also include the police, rescue services, the Armed Forces and voluntary organizations.
This year, introduction in the regions will begin with instructor training and practical training.
