The dispute was taken to the highest court, the Land and Environmental Court of Appeal, which ruled that the protected salamanders' habitat must remain, reports Sydsvenskan.
The new housing cannot be classified as an "overriding public interest" and therefore no deviations can be made from the provisions on biotope protection and species protection, according to the court. The marl grave and an associated stone cairn must remain, and therefore the detailed plan must now be revised, which, according to the municipality, will take two years.
