"Fair" tax cuts and increased child allowance

The proposals are included in the Social Democrats' budget motion, which will be presented in its entirety on Friday.

The S leader Magdalena Andersson accuses the government's budget proposal of being unfair and of wasting billions on tax cuts for the "very richest".

It's actually completely detached from reality, she says.

The S party says no to the government's proposal to abolish the phase-out of the job tax deduction for the highest incomes and to the government's new job tax deduction. Instead, the party proposes what it calls a "fair" tax cut of 140 kronor per month for everyone – including those on sick leave and those receiving unemployment benefits. The tax cut is estimated to cost the state 9.3 billion kronor.

However, the S party says yes to the automatic adjustment of the income limit for when state tax should be paid.

The party's budget motion also proposes to increase the child and study allowance by 200 kronor per month. The proposal costs 5.3 billion kronor.

The S party also wants to make permanent the temporary increase in housing allowance for families with children who are struggling, as well as increase the housing supplement for pensioners by 200 kronor per month.

Another S proposal is to abolish the so-called funk tax – the extra tax that those receiving sickness and activity benefits have to pay because they do not benefit from job tax deductions.
