The Social Democrats are demanding that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) call for crisis talks on unemployment. They point out that it is 8.9 percent, according to Statistics Sweden's statistics.

Now unemployment has reached a new nightmare level, says fiscal policy spokesperson Mikael Damberg.

Politicians rallied around measures in the labor market during the pandemic, but despite the fact that the situation is serious even now, the government is passive, according to S.

The party wants to see cross-party talks and discuss measures such as providing young unemployed people with jobs, training or internships within three months, offering recent graduates trainee positions within the state, and investing in more practical training. They are also open to new measures.

For us, there is no prestige, the important thing is that we find ways forward, says Ardalan Shekarabi (S), labor market policy spokesperson.

But S gets his hand cut by the government.

"Unfortunately, all I see is a weak social democracy. It is a dark autumn on the labor market. The most important thing we can do is therefore to break the recession. We do this through reduced taxes so people have more money in their wallets and education that leads to jobs," writes Minister of Labor Johan Britz (L) in a comment.
