The satellite network's owner, Elon Musk, said last week he had taken steps to prevent Russian forces from using it in the war in Ukraine.
At least nine of Russia's prominent and regime-loyal military commentators claim that the network is down at the front. Forces on both sides use it to communicate and conduct drone warfare.

Russia has no alternative of its own to the global satellite network, which is owned by Musk's company SpaceX.
