The Danish energy giant Ørsted will reduce the number of employees by approximately 2,000 people by the end of 2027, according to a press release.

The Danish company has been hit by a series of setbacks in the once so promising American wind power market, where sky-high costs, bottlenecks in the supply chain and political reversals during the Trump administration have forced the company to withdraw, reports Bloomberg.

Ørsted says that it aims to increase its competitiveness and will complete some major projects in the coming years. According to the press release, the company will need fewer employees in the future.

Ørsted currently has around 8,000 employees.

"Today, we have informed our employees that by the end of 2027, we will be saying goodbye to many skilled and appreciated colleagues who have made significant contributions to Ørsted," says Vice CEO Rasnus Errboe according to the press release.
