The 26-year-old, who has identified as a woman since 2023 and has adopted a female first name, has admitted to aggravated assault but denies murdering the woman in Rönninge.

The investigation found that the suspected murderer had stable finances, a permanent job and home, some social activities and leisure interests - including paintball, which he reportedly played every week. The Swedish Board of Forensic Medicine writes that the man "seems to have lived a double life to some extent; outwardly he has been to some extent social and hardworking".

The subsequent reasoning, however, is flawed. The statement also shows that the man has been charged with a serious child pornography offense, which he has admitted.

Caught red-handed

The murdered woman was reported missing after a night out on Boxing Day. The man was arrested the following day in the act of handling the woman's body.

The forensic psychiatric examination concluded that the man does not suffer from a serious mental disorder. According to the RMV, the assessment was difficult and the investigation period had to be extended, with a so-called shadow team appointed to review the case.

The man also underwent a similar investigation in 2019 when he was convicted of trying to abduct a 10-year-old girl in his car. The verdict found that he had prepared by bringing cable ties, duct tape and a mask he wore. However, the girl managed to escape through an unlocked car door.

Protected data

The underlying driving force was then considered to be the man's interest in "children and death." He was also deemed to meet the criteria for a diagnosis of pedophilia, but not to suffer from a serious mental disorder, and was therefore sentenced to prison.

After serving time in prison, the man obtained a truck driver's licence and after a few years was given a permanent job at a transport company. According to the new forensic psychiatric examination, the man states that after the previous sentence he was subjected to harassment, but was able to "live under the radar" after he was given protected information and changed his name.

His boss has spoken to investigators and stated that he did his job well and largely without criticism.
