Peter Gerhardsson has led the national team since 2017 when he took over after Pia Sundhage.
He has led Sweden to silver in the Olympic Games 2021 and double World Championship bronze in 2019 and 2023.
But when his current two-year contract expires this summer after the European Championship in Switzerland, it looks like it's over.
According to Aftonbladet, Gerhardsson announced to the Swedish Football Association last week that he will quit after this summer's European Championship, alternatively a few months later if the national team advances to the playoffs in the Nations League.
According to Fotbollskanalen, the association is working on having Tony Gustavsson succeed Gerhardsson.
Gustavsson was considered to take over the men's national team together with Olof Mellberg a year ago, but was then tied to a contract with Australia's women's national team.
Gustavsson left Australia after a failed Olympic Games in Paris where they were eliminated already in the group stage.
Tony Gustavsson has won two World Championship golds and one Olympic Games gold as an assistant coach in the USA's women's national team.
