The 28-year-old forward had at the end of last year thought about making a comeback in the national team after more than three years of absence. But a knee injury put a stop to the comeback – which now seems to keep her away from the European Championship as well.
When the women's national team presented the squad for the championship on Monday, Regan Magarity's name was missing.
We have had a lot of contact with her, but currently, it does not look like she will be fully recovered in time for the European Championship, unfortunately, says Kevin Taylor Lundgren.
She is, of course, an incredibly good player. She is perhaps at the highest level in club teams right now, so we will miss her defensive play, offensive play, and experience. But we have many good players in that position who we believe can step up.
In Magarity's and Elin Eldebrink's absence, where the latter tore her cruciate ligament at the end of January, the squad consists of 16 players who will meet Spain, Germany, and Great Britain in Hamburg.
Several of these players play college basketball in the USA on a daily basis. One of them, Tilda Trygger, is praised by Taylor Lundgren.
She has had a fantastic season in college. She is a great talent and one we already have high hopes for. But also in the future, where we want to see her as much as possible in the Swedish jersey.
The women's basketball European Championship 2025 will be played between June 18 and June 29.
