International support for the notoriously crisis-stricken Sudan is declining, reaching its lowest level in ten years last year. For the same number of years, it has been on the Norwegian Refugee Council's (NRC) list of the most neglected refugee crises in the world.
In 2025, more than 21 million people in Sudan are estimated to have received little or no assistance against war, hunger and disease outbreaks. Recently, Ebola broke out.
"This shows the world's failure to respond to crises that are not considered strategically important for rich countries," says NRC Secretary-General Jan Egeland.
The war in Sudan, with millions displaced, is considered to receive the least attention and assistance.
