Lightly speckled instead of black. A striking lobster was caught off the west coast last week. I have not heard any reports of anyone getting up anything similar in Sweden, says Karolina Sandberg at the House of the Sea.

The rare find was initially believed to be an invasive American lobster and was reported to SLU – but the lobster turned out to be of the domestic, European species. The light shell is due to a rare genetic mutation.

There has not been much research on the color of European lobsters, but when it comes to American ones, about one in 30 million is yellow.

So it's very rare, says Karolina Sandberg at Havets hus in Lysekil, where the lobster now lives.

So far it is nameless – but it is leaning towards Johnny, after the fisherman who caught it.

The dot was also a suggestion.
