The Government appoints an inquiry to develop a new special teacher training. The purpose is that more pupils who need support will get help from a special teacher to learn to read, write and count, says The Liberals' party leader Simona Mohamsson at a press conference.

Education is to replace today's special educational training. The goal is also to alleviate the shortage of special teachers and ensure that more students receive the right support on time. Central should be to work directly with the students.

The special educational efforts at a school must not be reduced to just advice and guidance to the teaching teachers. The need for special teachers who can conduct teaching directly aimed at the students is very large, says Minister for Upper Secondary School, Higher Education, and Research Lotta Edholm (L).

Eva Durhan is appointed as a special investigator, with a background as among other things head of department at the Swedish National Agency for Education's analysis department.

The investigation shall be presented no later than June 16 next year.
