Last year, National Police Chief Petra Lundh announced that the rules for wearing uniforms outside of duty would be tightened.
The police newspaper has taken note of the proposal that has now been submitted. It contains an explicit ban on wearing uniforms when “publishing on your own or others’ private social media accounts” and “political and religious work, including election campaigns or other forms of campaigning.”
The proposal also includes a uniform ban at "opinion-expressing demonstrations", which would mean a stop for uniformed police officers from participating in Pride - if they are not on duty.
The proposal for new regulations has been developed by a working group consisting of representatives from, among others, the police's national operational department (Noa), the legal department, the security department, employee organizations and the safety organization.
