In the latest inspection report, which Aftonbladet has taken part of, several serious deficiencies are pointed out – including torn playground equipment and protruding nails.

The inspector writes in the document, drawn up in June 2024, that "many of the faults have been pointed out for several years and are becoming very serious and acute to rectify".

The Consumer Agency has initiated an investigation into the fatal accident to see if the preschool has followed the requirements of the Product Safety Act.

A responsible person at the preschool tells Aftonbladet that they have "rectified the faults that have been pointed out".

The police investigation showed that the boy was wearing a reflective vest with a torn edge band at the back when he was playing in a slide on December 5 last year. The reflective vest got stuck in the edge of the slide and the boy suffered such serious injuries that he died two days later.

One month ago, it was announced that the preliminary investigation into manslaughter had been dropped since it was not possible to show that anyone's actions had been so negligent that they would be considered punishable.
