Annemarie Gardshol confirms in an interim report the decision that Postnord will stop transporting letters by air in the autumn. The report simultaneously shows that Postnord's letter volumes in the first quarter fell by 14 percent compared to the previous year.

"We continue to review how we can streamline the collection and distribution of letters, and in the autumn, we will stop flying letters. The volumes related to fast letter deliveries are so limited that it is no longer justified to use air transport", writes Gardshol in a comment in the interim report.

During the first quarter, Postnord Denmark – part of the same group – stopped handling letters to fully focus on the parcel business. This will now be followed by "an ongoing adaptation of the organization in 2025", according to Postnord.

Around 700 of the 2,200 Danish employees affected by the changes will be offered new jobs within the parcel business, according to Annemarie Gardshol.

Postnord's net sales for the first quarter decreased by 5 percent to 9 billion kronor, while the operating result increased to 189 million kronor, up from 127 million, writes Postnord in the report.
